Broad Gate Confidential

By 3rd August 2018BG Confidential

Following on from a few weeks ago I thought I’d role out another “Broad Gate Confidential.”  This week it’s my other partner in crime the lovely miss Vicki Robertson, Broad Gate’s receptionist extraordinaire!

What is your full name?

Victoria Rebecca Claire Robertson – myself and my half-brother and half-sister all have two middle names.

What do you like to be called?

Vicki.  I only get called Victoria by my mum or if I’ve been naughty!

Where were you born?

Shrewsbury, Shropshire

What is your position at Broad Gate?

Part-time Receptionist which is a catch-all title for a bit of everything to be honest! I mainly look after the helpdesk for the building and sort out any admin for the team.  As the oldest of the landlord team on a Monday and Tuesday, I also task myself with the very important duty of making sure that everyone is fully caffeinated to get us through the start of the week!

How long have you worked here?

Since June 2016.

What did you do before you worked here?

My background was always retail and my longest stint was with Majestic Wine on their trainee management programme where I ended up managing their largest store in Scotland which is in Edinburgh. After working for them for nine years, I decided that the 10 hours days on my feet was getting too much so I moved into retail admin.  After moving to Leeds, I worked for a serviced office company and then found my way to Broad Gate!

What other career / job would you have loved to have?

I always would have loved to be involved in acting or dancing as I studied Performing Arts at A Level and practically grew up in our local theatre back home as my parents were involved in Amateur Dramatics there for years.

What other career / job would you absolutely hate to have?

Either a doctor or nurse as I think I would get too attached to patients and would hate to see them suffering.  I have an unhealthy obsession with 24 Hours in A&E on TV and can’t imagine going through everything that

What is a surprising skill you have or a surprising fact about you?

I am an Anthony Gormley piece of art. In 2009, 2400 people were given one hour on the empty 4th plinth in Trafalgar Square in London to do anything they wanted.  I had a lovely picnic with the Sunday papers on a warm afternoon in September!

What is one thing you can’t live without?

It differs from week to week but currently I would sadly say Instagram.  It’s my favourite social network site at the moment.

Tea or Coffee, and how do you take it?

I love both – black coffee in the morning and Yorkshire Tea with dairy free milk in the afternoon and evening.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Sherry.  Dry, medium or sweet, I don’t care which!

What is your favourite album of all time?

Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not by Arctic Monkeys.  It’s their first album and it’s all killer, no filler.  I love their musical progression over their albums but the first one is a masterpiece.

What word do you love?

As an English Literature graduate, I think it’s too hard to pick.  After living in Scotland and marrying a Scotsman, I love Scottish slang words and phrases so I would probably have to pick one of them if I could.

What word do you hate?

Do hyphenates count?  If so, “alcohol-free”

If you had one last meal, what would it be?

I’m going to be specific with this one – full Roast Beef dinner from Kirkstall Bridge Inn followed by Sticky Toffee Pudding from The Mytton and Mermaid in Atcham, Shropshire (I got married there and it was the best dessert I’ve ever tasted!).
